Joyce gave us an amazing tour of the farm. I had no idea what went into harvesting spices! We had an easy walk to a platform that looked over the farm where we got to experience different types of ice cream and cookies made with spices from the farm as well as a hot chocolate. We ended back at our original place where we learned about how cocoa is made. I enjoyed myself so much that I would definitely do the tour again!
One of the highlights of the entire family, include a 15yr old boy! Just an amazing tour about spices, how they are grown and cultivated. Hands on tours seeing how Vanilla is grown and why it is so expensive (had no idea). Eating cinnamon right off the tree. Tour include a fantastic Cocoa demonstration and tasting. enjoyed it way more than I expected to - we all did.
This is well worth a visit! I went with my 8 yo daughter, and we enjoyed the beautiful property and learning about where various spices come from and how they are grown. She told me how much fun she was having at least 4-5 times throughout the visit and on the way back to our hotel. The farm itself has a good reputation with locals--our taxi driver said he is well aware of how the farm has benefited the local area. The tasting portion of the tour was delicious--for those with allergies, it does involve milk, almond, sesame and possibly egg. We have a nut allergy but luckily can eat Almond and the spice combos were interesting and delicious, even my 8 yo was enticed to try many new flavors. Highly recommend. Give yourself a lot of extra time to get there, we managed to drive the wrong way even though it isn't hard to get to.
This was a very well done tour. We learned so many interesting facts about vanilla, spices, chocolate, and the forest/farm where it all grows. The tastings were delicious! It was great to be able to see the vanilla flower and beans. Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly.
